Weather permitting; we will spray for mosquitos

from approximately 9 – 11pm.

The chemical used for spraying is Biomist (see facts below). Biomist ONLY kills adult mosquitoes on contact, and has no residual effect.  This program is not intended to kill ALL mosquitoes, but rather to reduce the numbers to a more manageable level.

LOWEST MAMMALIAN TOXICITY:

• Biomist is the LEAST toxic product registered with the EPA for adult mosquito control. (Many household chemicals are more toxic to breathe than Biomist. Filling a car at the gas pump will expose humans to more respiratory toxins than that of Biomist.).

FAST KNOCKDOWN:

• Biomist, both in field studies and wind tunnel tests, show greatly reduced landing and biting counts within 30 minutes of application.

NON CORROSIVE:

• Biomist is formulated with EPA registered crop oil. It will not damage equipment or automobile finishes.

NOTICE TO TRIM TREES

The City of Elkhart is requesting that all residents please trim trees to meet the following code:

150.03    DUTY TO TRIM TREES.  The owner or agent of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least fifteen (15) feet above the surface of the street and eight (8) feet above the sidewalks.  If the abutting property owner fails to trim the trees, the City may serve notice on the abutting property owner requiring that such action be taken within five (5) days.  If such action is not taken within that time, the City may perform the required action and assess the costs against the abutting property for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

(Code of Iowa, Sec. 364.12[2c, d & e])

Please have this work completed by July 31, 2008 to avoid further action from the city.  Failure to do have the necessary work completed by July 31^st will result in the city performing the work and the cost will be assessed to the property owner(s).
